Fredrikson & Byron was proud to be a lead sponsor of an unprecedented exhibit, "The Louvre and the Masterpiece," at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts from October 18, 2009 through January 10, 2010.
Appearing at just two museums in the United States, this exhibition featured sixty works of art drawn from the famed Musée du Louvre in Paris. The collection spans 4,000 years and took visitors on a journey tracing masterworks through the ages. “The Louvre and the Masterpiece” explored how the definition of a “masterpiece” has changed over time. Paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, and drawings reflected three major themes: the changing historical and cultural definitions of a masterpiece; authenticity and connoisseurship; and the evolution of taste and scholarship.
