Emily Chad and Zhu “June” Cheng Join Fredrikson & Byron
Minneapolis, MN September 2, 2011 – – Fredrikson & Byron welcomes two new attorneys, Emily Chad and Zhu “June” Cheng. Chad is an associate in the Tax Planning & Business Organization and Corporate Groups and Cheng is an attorney in Fredrikson & Byron’s Immigration Group.
As an associate, Chad counsels businesses on the tax impacts of business decisions at every stage of the private company life cycle. She also supports the energy practice group on transaction matters. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Chad worked as a tax associate for a Minneapolis law firm where she analyzed and structured financing transactions including a variety of tax credits, transactions including New Markets Tax Credits, and public-private joint ventures. Chad gained additional experience clerking for the Honorable Mark V. Holmes at the United States Tax Court in Washington D.C.
Cheng, a Chinese native, focuses primarily on investment-based immigration. She works closely with Fredrikson & Byron’s investor clients and its China office, assisting with EB-5 applications and other investment-based immigration matters, and tailoring legal solutions to each investor’s individual needs. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Cheng worked as a civil litigation attorney for a Minneapolis law firm, and uses this experience to assist the immigration department on its litigation matters.
