Minnesota Elected Officials - 2011-2012 Term

Fredrikson & Byron’s Government Relations Team is happy to provide a complete listing of the elected state officials as a reference for you and your organization as you gear-up for Minnesota’s 87th Legislature, 2011-2012. A positive relationship with your elected official can enhance your organization’s visibility and effectiveness. For this reason, we encourage you to contact the individuals who represent you to establish a connection with them, and to share a little about your organization and the issues of importance to you.

This historic election has also led to new legislative leaders in the Minnesota House and Senate. The House Republican Caucus elected Rep. Kurt Zellers (R - Maple Grove) as the Speaker of the House-designate and Rep. Matt Dean (R - Dellwood) as Majority Leader. Rep. Zellers has the title of “designate” as he will not be officially elected until the first day of the 2011 legislative session. When his name is put into nomination, it is expected that he will be elected as the Speaker of the House. The House DFL Caucus elected Rep. Paul Thissen (DFL - Minneapolis) as Minority Leader.

In the Minnesota Senate, the Republican Caucus elected Sen. Amy Koch (R - Buffalo) as the Senate Majority Leader and Sen. Michelle Fischbach (R - Paynesville) as the Senate President-designate. Representing the Senate DFL as Minority Leader will be Sen. Tom Bakk (DFL - Cook).

As the leaders of the new majorities begin to design their committee structures and assemble committee rosters in the coming weeks, continue to visit our website for updated information.
