His $275 million last year out-earned the other 12 dead celebrities combined, and even though he never made Forbes' annual Celebrity 100 list while living, last year he earned more than any star on that list except Oprah.

This year, he was the second highest-earning pop act over the past year, dead or alive, after U2.
