Recording Fees: Going Up

Effective February 1, 2003, the mortgage registry tax in Ramsey County increased to $.0024 times the amount of the mortgage amount. At the same time, deed tax paid on transfers of Ramsey County real property increased to $.0034 times the sale price of the property.
Effective February 3, 2003, Washington County collects an additional $5.00 “Fill In Fee” on any document submitted for recording that requires the County to insert the document number of a different document. A common situation would be a Certificate and Request for Notice that is submitted for recording along with a second mortgage where the document number of the second mortgage must be inserted in the Certificate before it can be recorded.
