Introduction

James represents and advises small and large businesses, commercial lenders, and individuals in the areas of corporate restructuring, debtor/creditor law, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and related matters. He has successfully guided businesses through the chapter 11 process, including both asset sales and plan confirmation. He regularly consults with clients and other lawyers regarding the structure of commercial transactions to minimize exposure in the event of insolvency. He has represented trustees and receivers in preference and fraudulent transfer litigation and has defended similar actions across the nation.

James is also an adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School where he teaches in the law clinic. Taking referrals from Volunteer Lawyer’s Network, his clinic gives law students an opportunity to learn the ropes of legal practice while serving clients who cannot afford a lawyer.
