Sarah is a senior associate in Fredrikson & Byron’s Litigation, Appellate, IP Litigation, and Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Workouts Groups. Sarah appears regularly in state and federal courts (in Minnesota and elsewhere), as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Representative Experience

Business Litigation/IP Litigation:

  • Worked as an integral part of a team representing a Fortune 1000 company in arbitration proceedings. Successfully defended against a breach of contract claim.
  • Won an emergency motion in federal court, enabling the client to recover, prior to discovery or trial, equipment valued at over $1 million.
  • Successfully defeated a motion for a temporary restraining order in federal court, thereby preventing the client’s competitor from obtaining valuable proprietary information.
  • Won dismissal, in state and federal court, of a breach of contract claim on jurisdictional grounds.
  • Has handled more than 20 opposition/cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board.
  • Has represented plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal cases involving copyright and trademark infringement claims.

Appellate Litigation:

  • Has handled numerous aspects of appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth, Eighth, and Ninth Circuits, as well as the Minnesota Appellate Courts.
  • Won a motion to stay execution of federal agency’s order during pendency of appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Successfully defeated federal agency’s motion to dismiss appeal.

Bankruptcy and Restructuring:

  • Has handled hearings and motions on multiple aspects of Chapter 11 cases.
  • Has handled more than 100 preference cases in bankruptcy courts throughout the country.
