Laterals

Fredrikson & Byron's Mentor Program pairs partners with associates. We encourage the pairs to meet frequently throughout the mentoring relationship, which sometimes may last for years, depending on the preferences of the individuals. These contacts can be in the form of meals, coffee, recreational activities or other options. They create opportunities for associates to learn more about Firm financial topics, the shareholder process, developing client relationships, career goals, work and family balance, etc. An important objective of the program is to enhance job satisfaction and professional development for every associate.

All communications between associates and their mentors are governed by a code of confidentiality. This encourages frank discussions about any topic of interest to associates.

Initially, the Mentor Program was offered to first and second-year associates but, as the interest grew, so did our program. We now have more than 50 mentor pairs in our program. The program has expanded beyond the one-on-one contacts to include group activities such as social events, luncheon programs, and panel discussions that give associates the opportunity have their questions answered and to learn ideas for achieving their personal goals. In addition to these benefits, the Mentor Program provides a great opportunity for associates at all levels to get to know partners from other practice areas of the Firm.
