Health Law Webinar: Challenging Short Stay Denials: The arguments RACs don’t want you to know
Hospitals are facing regular Medicare audits of “short stays,” with the auditor questioning whether a patient qualified for inpatient, rather than outpatient status. There are very strong legal arguments to challenge most of these denials. This session will explore the significant contradictions contained in Medicare instructions, and describe the legal defenses available when internal or external review asserts that an overpayment exists. We will also provide some practical tips for reducing the risk that your admissions will be challenged.
If you plan to have multiple people from your organization participate in the webinar, we would recommend that you register only once and list additional listeners as “guests” during the registration process. If you have any questions about this process please contact Jessica Berg at jberg@fredlaw.com.
You will receive log-in information one day prior to the webinar. Following the webinar, all registrants will receive a CD of the presentation.
Accreditation
We have applied for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit for this program in Iowa and Minnesota. Please contact Terry Giel at tgiel@fredlaw.com if you are an attorney licensed in another state and would like information about obtaining CLE accreditation. We have also applied for Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) credits. Webinar participants will be notified of accreditation upon program approval of CLE and HCCA credits (typically three or four weeks following the webinar).
A webinar is a seminar that is transmitted over the Internet. Both the audio and visual components (live PowerPoint presentation) are delivered through a secure connection. Participants will be able to ask questions during the webinar using the web site’s chat function.
