Countdown to HIPAA Enforcement Date: Checklist of Last Steps for Complying with New HIPAA Regulations
The enforcement date of the new HIPAA regulations is September 23, 2013. Don’t miss this webinar on practical steps covered entities must take to be in compliance. Our discussion will include (i) specific updates to Notice of Privacy Practices; (ii) new language in business associate agreements; (iii) changes to policies and procedures regarding patient rights to access their PHI and restrict disclosures; (iv) how covered entities may use PHI to market and fundraise after the compliance date; and (v) problem areas for compliance.
If you plan to have multiple people from your organization participate in the webinar, we would recommend that you register only once and list additional listeners as “guests” during the registration process. If you have any questions about this process please contact Jessica Berg at jmielke@fredlaw.com.
You will receive log-in information one day prior to the webinar. Following the webinar, all registrants will receive a CD of the presentation.
Accreditation
We have applied for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit for this program in Iowa and Minnesota. Please contact Terry Giel at tgiel@fredlaw.com if you are an attorney licensed in another state and would like information about obtaining CLE accreditation. We have also applied for Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) credits. Webinar participants will be notified of accreditation upon program approval of CLE and HCCA credits (typically three or four weeks following the webinar).
A webinar is a seminar that is transmitted over the Internet. Both the audio and visual components (live PowerPoint presentation) are delivered through a secure connection. Participants will be able to ask questions during the webinar using the web site’s chat function.
