Fredrikson & Byron Announces Winner of Minority Scholarship
Minneapolis, MN June 26, 2007 – – Fredrikson & Byron announces Amber S. Brown as the recipient of the 2007 Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship Program. The scholarship is awarded each year to an exceptional first-year minority law school student, and 2007 marks the fifteenth year of the firm’s minority scholarship program. This year, the Fredrikson Foundation increased the scholarship from $5,000 to $10,000.
Amber is currently enrolled at Drake University Law School and expects to earn her J.D. in May of 2009. She earned her undergraduate degree -- a B.S., summa cum laude, in Business Economics -- from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in May 2006. In addition to winning the scholarship, Amber has been invited to join Fredrikson & Byron as a summer associate in 2008.
The scholarship program is part of Fredrikson & Byron’s commitment to promoting diversity amongst incoming law professionals. The overall purpose of the program is to promote the legal training of minority law school students and to encourage them to join and excel in the private practice of law with major law firms. The scholarship is awarded based on law school performance, professional references, work and other activities, writing samples, and personal interviews.
