Alejandro Suárez Appointed Co-Chair of the
Mexico Committee of the ABA’s Section of International Law
Minneapolis, MN August 5, 2008 – – Alejandro Suárez has been appointed Co-Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law Mexico Committee. He will assume the appointment at the ABA’s Annual Meeting on August 12, 2008.
Suárez is a member of Fredrikson & Byron’s International Group, and is a Foreign Legal Consultant for Mexico licensed by the Minnesota Supreme Court. His experience includes the structuring of mergers, acquisitions, and private equity transactions involving different jurisdictions. He represents foreign companies and individuals from diverse nationalities and industries doing business in Mexico and Latin America. He also has experience advising foreign companies entering into real estate business ventures in Mexico and Latin America. Suárez advises on issues such as incorporation of business entities in Mexico; coordination of incorporation of companies abroad for Mexican investors; structuring and documentation of joint ventures, loans, securities, and financial facilities; product and general liability, insurance and litigation in Latin America; and other general corporate legal advice.
Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Suárez worked for international law firms in Mexico, most recently as an associate with Chicago-based Baker & McKenzie. He is a 2000 graduate of Mexico’s Universidad Panamericana. He received his LLM in 2006 from the University of Texas at Austin Law School, and is licensed in Mexico, and as a Foreign Legal Consultant for Mexico in Minnesota in 2007.
