Fredrikson & Byron Attorney, Nicole Moen, Honored as 2009 Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer

Minneapolis, MN March 23, 2009 – – Minnesota Lawyer has selected Fredrikson & Byron senior associate Nicole Moen as one of twenty-five 2009 Up & Coming Attorneys. Attorneys who receive this award are selected because of their professional accomplishments during their first 10 years of practice. Nicole will be recognized for her achievements at an honorary luncheon on May 7.

Nicole was selected as an Up & Coming Attorney based upon her professional achievements, service to the legal community, and leadership. Among the many clients Nicole has represented while at Fredrikson & Byron, for many years she has represented an Algerian citizen who is being detained at Guantanamo Bay. She has traveled to Cuba numerous times for meetings with her client and—because of her fluency in French—served as both an attorney and translator. Nicole is also frequent speaker about the unique legal issues surrounding Guantanamo Bay detention and has written an article about her experience representing a Guantanamo Bay detainee. She is a graduate of the Harvard Law School and clerked for the Honorable John R. Tunheim, United States District Judge of the District of Minnesota.

Nicole is a member of Fredrikson & Byron’s Litigation Group. She represents clients in civil, regulatory, and white collar criminal matters. Her practice focuses on health litigation, white collar and regulatory defense, and business and commercial litigation. She also represents clients in a number of pro bono matters and is a member of the firm’s pro bono committee. Nicole is also actively involved with Fredrikson & Byron’s summer associate program, and was a work-flow coordinator for Fredrikson’s 2007 and 2008 summer associate classes. Nicole was previously recognized by Minnesota Journal of Law & Politics as a 2008 “Rising Star” in recognition of her professional achievements. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys biking, swimming, and playing with her dog, Artemis.
