James Baillie Receives David Graven Public Service Award


Minneapolis, MN April 28, 2009 – – Fredrikson & Byron attorney, James Baillie, has been selected to receive the Minnesota State Bar Association’s (MSBA) David Graven Public Service Award. The Graven Award is given annually by the Association to recognize the lawyer who best exemplifies the high standards of the profession in combination with a commitment to public or community service. Jim will receive the award during the MSBA Assembly on April 30 at noon in the Minnesota CLE Conference Center in Minneapolis.

Jim is a member of the Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Workouts, and Litigation groups. He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and has been listed in all editions since 1989 of “Best Lawyers in America.” Jim is also an active speaker for continuing legal education programs both locally and nationally.

In addition, Jim is very active in bar leadership programs and pro bono legal activities having received national honors for his work and chaired for three years the ABA’s Standing Committee on Lawyer’s Public Service Responsibility. He currently chairs the ABA’s Special Committee on Disaster Response and Preparedness. Jim is a past President of the 7,500 member Hennepin County Bar Association and is also past President of the 15,000 member Minnesota State Bar Association.
