Fredrikson & Byron Attorney Tom King Honored by MEDA
Minneapolis, MN June 4, 2009 – – Fredrikson & Byron attorney, Tom King, was honored for his instrumental role in developing the advisory council framework for the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA) Entrepreneurial Leadership Program and for being the first council member to sign up to serve. Tom was recognized at MEDA’s volunteer reception on April 23, 2009.
Fredrikson & Byron has worked with MEDA since it’s founding in 1971 by Fredrikson lawyer John Stout and other community leaders. MEDA works with entrepreneurs of color, providing invaluable business and legal assistance to help them foster community stability and growth. In 2007, MEDA launched a new project called the MEDA Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. This program’s goals are to produce business leaders of color who can move outside of the walls of their companies and take leadership roles in the community. To do so, the business owners are paired with community leaders in various industries, including legal, human resource or management, accounting and financial, technology and more.
Tom’s legal practice focuses on securities law. He has considerable experience in counseling entrepreneurs - especially those involved in high-technology enterprises - in all aspects of corporate formation, financing and dealing with regulatory obligations. Tom emphasizes the representation of public corporations and their Boards of Directors and emerging private companies seeking to raise capital through exempt or public offerings.
