Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Awards Minority Scholarship

Minneapolis, MN June 17, 2009 – – Fredrikson & Byron announces Joshua Scott as the recipient of the 2009 Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarships. This is the 17th year of the firm’s minority scholarship program, which is typically awarded each year to an exceptional first-year minority law school student. The Fredrikson Foundation awarded $10,000 for the 2009 scholarship.

Joshua is currently enrolled at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Mo. and expects to earn his J.D. in May of 2011. He earned a masters degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a 4.0 GPA. Joshua also received his undergraduate degree - a B.A., magna cum laude, in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in May 2005.

The scholarship program is part of Fredrikson & Byron’s commitment to promoting diversity amongst incoming law professionals. The purpose of the program is to promote the legal training of minority law school students and to encourage them to join and excel in the private practice of law within larger corporate law firms in the Upper Midwest. The scholarship is awarded based on law school performance, professional references, work and other activities, writing samples, and personal interviews. First year law students are encouraged to visit www.fredlaw.com for more information and to apply.
