Fredrikson & Byron Attorneys Named Genesis II’s Community Partner of the Year
Minneapolis, MN September 8, 2009 – – Fredrikson & Byron attorneys, Teresa M. Thompson and Norah E. Olson Bluvshtein, were named Genesis II’s 2008 Community Partners of the Year.
Since 2008, Thompson and Olson Bluvshtein, through Fredrikson & Byron, have donated hundreds of hours to the senior management team and board of directors of Genesis II helping them to re-write their employment handbook, employee policies, employee severance packages, and independent contractor agreements. In addition to all of their work on employment law issues, Thompson and Olson Bluvshtein have recruited colleagues from the Fredrikson & Byron Health Law Group to help Genesis II insure it is compliant with health laws, including HIPAA. According to Michelle Basham, Genesis II Executive Director, “their help, expertise and insight has been invaluable and resulted in the implementation of challenging decisions being much smoother than they could have been.”
Thompson is a shareholder in Fredrikson & Byron’s Employment and Labor Law Group. Thompson recognizes that in this economy, it is increasingly important for organizations to remain out of the courtroom. Through training and counseling, she works closely with her clients to implement risk prevention strategies to avoid costly litigation. When litigation arises, however, she stands ready take appropriate action.
Olson Bluvshtein is an associate in Fredrikson & Byron’s Employment and Labor Law Group. Her work also focuses on risk prevention counseling and training, as well as employment litigation.
