Fredrikson & Byron Attorneys Appointed to Bar Association Leadership Positions
Minneapolis, MN September 8, 2009 – – Fredrikson & Byron attorneys, Susan Steinwall and Karen Grandstrand, were both recently appointed to Bar Association leadership positions. Steinwall was appointed a Committee Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources’ Committee on Environmental Transactions and Brownfields. Grandstrand is now the Treasurer of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Business Law Section. She’s also serves as Co-Chair of the Banking Committee.
Steinwall combines expertise in land use, environmental law, and real estate. A shareholder with the Real Estate, Energy, and Environmental Law Groups and chair of the Environmental Law Group, Steinwall also assists clients in energy resources development, including natural gas and wind power. As a vice chair, Steinwall will be responsible for the committee’s submission to the section’s annual summary of the notable developments in the areas of environmental, energy, and natural resource law.
Grandstrand is a shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron and chair of the firm’s Bank & Finance Group. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron in October 1999, she had a 14-year career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, where she was Senior Vice President in charge of Banking Supervision, Risk Management, and the Bank’s Equal Employment Opportunity Program. Grandstrand has an extensive background in and knowledge of regulatory matters, acquisitions, and payments system issues. She advises financial institutions on examination findings and enforcement actions, bank acquisitions and non-bank activities, forming new banks, new payments and trust products, corporate governance, privacy and information security, USA Patriot Act requirements, and a variety of compliance matters.
