Fredrikson Attorney Steven Helland Elected President of Minnesota Film and TV Board
Minneapolis, MN July 2, 2010 – – Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. is pleased to announce that attorney Steven Helland has been elected president of the Minnesota Film Board after six years of volunteer Board service.
The Minnesota Film and TV Board is a nonprofit that serves as a resource for individuals and companies both inside and outside Minnesota. It is dedicated to creating jobs and economic growth by promoting and supporting the state’s moving image production industry by encouraging film, television, commercial, and other media productions to shoot and do post-production in Minnesota. A current focus of the Board is the promotion of Minnesota as a hub for 3-D production.
“This elected position complements Helland’s work within Fredrikson & Byron, because his personal interests and professional work reinforce each other,” said firm President John Koneck. “He has spent many years as a board member and volunteer in the arts/film industry and is currently chair of Fredrikson & Byron’s Internet, Technology & E-Commerce Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s Media & Entertainment Group.”
Helland’s clients are concentrated in the Internet, software, consulting services, new media, and entertainment industries. In 2007, he was recognized by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal for the 40 under Forty award, which recognizes the region’s up-and-coming business and community leaders.
Helland’s entertainment clients include producers, investors, and writers, and his legal credits include the film adaptation of A Prairie Home Companion as well as Nobody (written and directed by the writer of 40 Days and 40 Nights).
The Minnesota Film & TV Board (MFTVB) is a full-service film commission, which was incorporated in 1983. The Board is a nonprofit public-private partnership funded by the State of Minnesota through Explore Minnesota Tourism and private contributions.
