Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Awards Minority Scholarship
Minneapolis, MN July 11, 2011 – – Fredrikson & Byron announces Ra’Shya Cunningham as the recipient of the 2011 Fredrikson & Byron Foundation Minority Scholarship. This is the 19th year of the firm’s minority scholarship program, which is typically awarded each year to an exceptional first-year minority law school student. The Fredrikson Foundation awarded $10,000 for the 2011 scholarship.
Ra’Shya is currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis, Minn., and expects to earn her J.D. in May of 2013. She earned a Master’s in Business Administration degree in 2010 and an undergraduate degree – a B.S. in Public Administration - in 2009 from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
The scholarship program is part of Fredrikson & Byron Foundation’s commitment to promoting diversity amongst incoming law professionals. The purpose of the program is to encourage them to join and excel in the private practice of law within larger corporate law firms in the Upper Midwest. The scholarship is awarded based on law school performance, professional references, work and other activities, writing samples, and personal interviews.
