Health Law Webinar: Turning Immigration into a Powerful Physician Recruitment Tool
Wednesday, February 8, 2017
12:00 – 1:00 P.M. CDT & 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. EST
Robert Aronson and Loan Huynh, attorneys in Fredrikson & Byron’s Immigration Group
Given the ever-growing shortages of physicians in the domestic workforce, healthcare employers are increasingly looking to non-traditional sources of providers, including International Medical Graduates (IMGs), who currently comprise around 23 percent of physicians enrolled in programs of Graduate Medical Education (GME) in the United States.
This physician population is simply too large to ignore, particularly for placements in hard-to-fill positions. Physician recruiters and healthcare managers need to understand the fundamentals of IMG immigration. In this webinar, our presenters will provide:
- An understanding of the basic immigration legal provisions affecting IMG recruitment
- Insights on how to incorporate immigration into a physician recruitment and retention program
- Suggestions on how to provide the employing institution a competitive advantage in employing IMGs
- Ideas for how to creatively introduce a discussion of immigration as part of the recruitment and retention program for IMGs.
We have applied for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit for this program in Iowa and Minnesota. Please contact Greta Larson at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are an attorney licensed in another state and would like information about obtaining CLE accreditation. We have also applied for Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) credits. Webinar participants will be notified of accreditation upon program approval of CLE and HCCA credits (typically three or four weeks following the webinar).
