Former McDermott Will & Emery Partner Joins Fredrikson & Byron
Attorney Aron J. Frakes joins Fredrikson & Byron’s Litigation Group as an officer. Frakes was most recently a litigation partner in the Chicago office of McDermott Will & Emery. Frakes represents clients in a wide variety of disputes, including large contract disputes, product liability defense, class action defense, fraud and conspiracy cases, consumer fraud actions, construction litigation, professional engineering malpractice defense, and toxic tort mass actions. Frakes is licensed to practice in Illinois and is in the process of applying to be licensed in Minnesota.
“Aron is an excellent lawyer and we are especially pleased to have his expertise in class actions and products liability in the medical device and building materials areas,” said John Koneck, president of Fredrikson & Byron. “He will be a tremendous asset to our life sciences and construction clients and will deepen our talent in these industries and enhance our complex litigation and consumer fraud practices.”
Frakes’ specific experience includes defending against purported nationwide class actions, litigating complex claims alleging products liability and statutory consumer protection claims, prosecuting large fraud and civil conspiracy claims, leading post-closing indemnity disputes following the sales of businesses and handling cases seeking to invalidate non-competition provisions in contracts. He has represented clients through arbitration, in state and federal trial courts throughout the United States and in various appellate courts, and he also routinely assists clients with mediating or negotiating resolution of their disputes.
“I am very excited to join Fredrikson and such a strong litigation team,” said Frakes. “Fredrikson’s construction, life sciences and healthcare groups have excellent reputations and the resources the firm has to offer will be of great benefit to our clients.”
