The Iowa State Bar has appointed shareholder Bridget R. Penick to serve on the Labor & Employment Law Section Council, shareholder Steven J. Dickinson to serve on the International Law Section Council and officer Philip S. Bubb to serve on the Construction Law Section Council. They will serve during the 2015-2016 fiscal year.

Penick is a leading litigator whose practice focuses on employment law. Penick represents employers of all sizes, both in state and federal courts as well as before administrative agencies. She counsels employers in human resources policies and procedures, employment discrimination, FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, NLRA issues and union organization. She also assists employers with employment-related immigration issues.

Dickinson’s practice centers on domestic and international business transactions for both U.S. and international companies. In the U.S., he represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, complex contract negotiations and other collaborative business transactions. Dickinson represents U.S. companies in their international business, including acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, construction and sales contracts, and distribution arrangements, as well as operational issues such as international tax planning, entity formation, financing, employment, intellectual property, and compliance matters including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and export control regulations. Dickinson has represented many companies in doing business in China and throughout Asia, as well as in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union and Canada. He also assists international companies in establishing and operating in the U.S., primarily in the Midwest.

Bubb is an experienced commercial litigator serving clients in diverse industries, including construction and real estate. He regularly handles disputes involving contracts, business torts, insurance liability, and negligence. Bubb represents general contractors and subcontractors in mediation, arbitration and litigation, and represents construction-products manufacturers against claims of strict liability, warranty, and negligence. He has served as lead and second-chair counsel in both state and federal courts and has obtained verdicts for clients following bench trials and jury trials.
