Fredrikson & Byron Announces New Shareholders

Fredrikson & Byron has elected 8 new shareholders: Ron Garber, Katherine B. Ilten, John F. Kapacinskas, Paul J. LaVanway, Zachary D. Olson, Karla L. Reyerson, Kevin C. Riach and Mark H. Tranovich.

Fredrikson & Byron Attorney Rob Garber

Ron Garber works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities, Life Sciences and Media & Entertainment Groups. Garber helps his clients buy and sell businesses, representing strategic acquirers, private equity and venture capital funds, and investors in mergers and acquisitions, investments, divestitures and joint ventures. Garber also serves as outside general counsel to several sports marketing agencies, which he has represented in connection with endorsement, sponsorship and consulting deals with NBA and NFL players, league-level corporate sponsors and global brands.

Fredrikson & Byron Attorney Katie Ilten

Katherine B. Ilten works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Health Care, Aging & Disability Providers, Health Care Fraud & Compliance and White Collar & Regulatory Defense Groups. Ilten advises clients on compliance issues—including HIPAA, Stark, antikickback, Medicare and Medicaid enrollment and reimbursement, sunshine reporting, licensure, and accreditation—and assists clients in responding to internal and external allegations of regulatory non-compliance. Her clients include hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, life science companies, home care providers and licensed health care professionals.

Fredrikson & Byron Attorney John Kapacinskas

John F. Kapacinskas works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Health Care, Litigation, Healthcare Fraud & Compliance, and Life Sciences Groups. Kapacinskas counsels clients nationally in the health care and biosciences industries in establishing and monitoring best practices to avoid litigation and government investigations. He is also an accomplished litigator, representing health care systems, insurance companies, managed care organizations (MCOs), and medical device manufacturers in state and federal courts across the country.

Paul J. LaVanway works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Intellectual Property, Patents, Intellectual Property Litigation, IP Due Diligence, Life Sciences and Sustainability Groups. Working at the intersection of law and technology, LaVanway helps technology developers protect and defend their intellectual property assets and also guides technology users through the complex landscape of third-party intellectual property ownership. He leads large clearance investigations, opines on competitor patents, manages global portfolios of patent applications and supports contested intellectual property proceedings.

Zachary D. Olson works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions, Renewable Energy, Energy, Securities and Real Estate Groups. Olson is an experienced transactional attorney who focuses his practice primarily on mergers and acquisitions and structured finance, including public finance transactions. He has broad experience representing and advising buyers and sellers in a variety of M&A and corporate reorganization transactions, representing both public and private clients, and ranging in transaction size and complexity.

Karla L. Reyerson works in the Minneapolis office and is a member of the Bank & Finance, Corporate Governance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Privacy, Banking & Financial Services Litigation and Securities Groups. Reyerson is an experienced banking attorney who focuses on advising banks and other financial institutions regarding regulatory, organizational and other business matters. Kevin C.
