Attorney James L. Baillie has been elected to serve a two-year term as vice president of the American College of Bankruptcy. The 2018-2019 Officers and Board of Directors were voted in on March 17, 2018, at the College’s annual meeting held in Washington, D.C.

The American College of Bankruptcy is an honorary public service association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals who are invited to join as Fellows based on a proven record of the highest standards of professionalism plus service to the profession and their communities. Together with its affiliated Foundation, the College is the largest financial supporter of bankruptcy and insolvency-related pro bono legal service programs in the United States. Among its many activities, the College conducts advanced educational programs, sponsors the publication of scholarly reports and maintains the National Bankruptcy Archives at the University of Pennsylvania.

Baillie is a nationally recognized bankruptcy attorney with extensive experience representing financially stressed businesses or their creditors bringing to bear his experience in bankruptcy and workouts, debtor-creditor law, business transactions and litigation to help those clients. He has counseled and represented thousands of businesses in challenging financial circumstances in over 50 years of practice and is adept at developing creative solutions to difficult problems. Baillie is very active in bar leadership and pro bono legal activities and has received national honors for his work, including the first national pro bono award given by the American Bar Association.
