Four Fredrikson & Byron attorneys Ann M. Ladd, James H. Snelson, Kevin S. Spreng and Jeffrey J. Steinle have been named BTI Client Service All-Stars 2022. Clients identified 565 attorneys for standing above all others and delivering superior client service.

Ladd helps clients commercialize intellectual property, data and technology rights through a variety of transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, strategic alliances, collaboration and research agreements, material transfer agreements, development agreements, and technology and patent licenses. Ladd has a special emphasis on working with companies in the technology and life sciences areas, including diagnostic, pharma, medical device, telemedicine, and other health IT companies. Her knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity allows her to help guide clients as they navigate rights to “big data” and leverage artificial intelligence, while addressing applicable state and federal laws, and evolving industry standards.

Snelson helps clients buy and sell businesses, representing strategic parties and private equity groups in minority investment, acquisition, exit, and divestiture transactions involving companies in a variety of industries, including life sciences and health care, technology, distribution, and manufacturing.  In connection with these transactions, he also assists clients with commercial arrangements for product development, supply, manufacturing and distribution, technology licensing, consulting services, and related matters. His financial background and in-house experience allow him to better understand his clients’ goals and manage legal risks to help achieve them. Snelson is a Shareholder and member of Fredrikson’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Before joining the firm in 1997, he worked as an accountant and financial analyst for Price Waterhouse LLP and IBM Corp. In 2002, he joined Medtronic, Inc. as in-house legal counsel supporting corporate development activities, and he returned to Fredrikson in 2003.

Spreng’s practice focuses on helping entrepreneurs, investors and managers build businesses by providing experienced and practical counsel in the areas of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Spreng is a chair of the Venture Capital Financing Group. He has represented venture capital funds, corporate venture capital groups, and issuers in connection with private financings, exit transactions and operations for nearly 30 years.

Steinle is a corporate attorney who advises clients executing M&A, financing, joint venture, licensing and commercial transactions. He serves as outside general counsel to life science and health care companies, navigates highly regulated environments and negotiates effective strategic and commercial relationships to help clients develop, commercialize and sell their products. Steinle co-chairs the firm’s Life Sciences Group. He chairs the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation and serves on the Boards of Pillsbury United Communities.

The BTI Client Service All-Stars were selected based on more than 350 in-depth interviews with top legal decision makers at large organizations with more than $700 million or more in revenue. Interviews were conducted between January 2021 and November 2021. No law firm submissions, self-referrals, firm referrals, suggestions or payments are accepted for inclusion in this report.
