Fredrikson & Byron Expands Government Relations Group with Attorney Logan Murray and Specialist Angela Caulk

Fredrikson & Byron has announced the expansion of its Government Relations Group in Iowa with the addition of Counsel, Logan Murray, and Specialist, Angela J. Caulk. Murray and Caulk join Noah J. Tabor and Linda L. Upmeyer, increasing the group’s strength and capacity to serve clients in Iowa.

Murray brings nearly a decade of government experience working as a political staffer and government relations attorney to help clients navigate the ever-changing political environment.

After graduating from Drake University Law School, Murray began his career as a Legislative Analyst and Policy Advisor for the Iowa House Republican Caucus. In this role, he drafted and analyzed proposed legislation for the State Government, Local Government and Labor Committees. He also served as the primary staffer for the Transportation Budget and the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund. This role required Murray to have a thorough understanding of the political, fiscal, and industry impacts of approximately 150 bills per session and $500 million worth of appropriations. These committees offered a diverse slate of bills which gave Murray expertise in the public bidding process, gaming, alcohol, occupational licensing, financial and election laws.

Upon leaving caucus staff, Murray served as a multi-client lobbyist and attorney at an Iowa-based boutique law firm. While lobbying he represented trade associations, non-profits, municipal governments, law enforcement, a casino and national corporations. Murray builds and maintains bipartisan relationships at all stages of government. He has developed a reputation as a trusted resource for staffers, legislators and their constituents.

Caulk brings expertise and dedication to her role as a government relations specialist. She uses her wealth of knowledge and experience to guide clients to their desired legislative goals. Caulk assists clients by tracking relevant legislation, providing political analysis on current events, connecting clients with policymakers and external organizations, and strategizing with clients to best serve their needs. Caulk’s policy work is focused on the areas of healthcare, non-profit and community-based programs, and technology. Caulk received her B.A. in Political Science and History from Dickinson State University and M.A. in Political Science from Iowa State University. After graduation, Caulk spent time working as a staffer for Senator Heidi Heitkamp in a regional North Dakota field office. Through her time with Senator Heitkamp’s office, Caulk grew her government relations connections to become Chair of the Government Relations Committee for the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce. Drawing on her experience, Caulk supports the firm’s development and execution of government relations strategies and guides clients in successfully advocating for their interests at the Capitol. Caulk is not licensed to practice law. Her practice is limited to government relations consulting, which includes state and local lobbying.
