Fredrikson & Byron shareholders Lora Friedemann, Cynthia A. Moyer, John Pickerill and Ann Dunn Wessberg have been named to the top band in the 2022 edition of the World Trademark Review 1000: The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals (WTR 1000) for Minnesota. Now in its twelfth year, the WTR 1000 shines a spotlight on the firms and individuals that are deemed outstanding in this critical area of practice. The WTR 1000 focuses exclusively on trademark practice and has firmly established itself as the definitive ‘go-to’ resource for those seeking world-class legal trademark expertise.

“The business-minded trademark professionals at Fredrikson & Byron dispense sage counsel that comes interwoven with rich commercial threads. Masters at maximizing the profitability of portfolios, they also know all the right plays to make in TTAB proceedings.” The WTR 1000 shared feedback received during the in-depth market research period, placing the firm and multiple attorneys in the gold band. Those in the gold band attracted the most positive comments from sources and are considered best of the trademark scene.

Friedemann, having earned gold status in Minnesota for enforcement and litigation, is honored in part for her work on behalf of Medtronic. The WTR 1000 noted Friedemann “frequently changes the game in critical high-stakes battles for blue-chips.”

Moyer, chair of Fredrikson’s Advertising, Marketing & Trademark Group, earned high marks from clients. The WTR 1000 stated, “Cynthia manages global portfolios efficiently and cost effectively, and always communicates well. She is unfailingly responsive, offers timely and seasoned advice and is a valued team member.”

Pickerill is known for bringing a unique dimension to the practice from his previous career as an advertising executive.” WTR 1000 said, “John provides pragmatic and commercial advice, with a keen eye on costs, and explains the finer points well. He is easy to deal with–very knowledgeable and responsive; and above all, he is always looking for client-centric solutions.”

Wessberg earned a gold rating in Minnesota for prosecution and strategy. WTR 1000 emphasized, “Ann is highly personable and a wonderful strategic partner. From the get-go, she is up to speed on clients’ businesses and their brands. She provides concise and reliable advice and is a pleasure to deal with.”

The WTR 1000 identifies the leading players in over 80 key jurisdictions globally. To research the market, World Trademark Review conducted face-to-face and telephone interviews and exchanged correspondence over a four-month period with hundreds of attorneys and their clients involved with trademarks. Individuals qualify for inclusion in the WTR 1000 upon receiving sufficient positive feedback from market sources with knowledge of their practice and the market in which they operate. Recommendations in the WTR 1000 are presented in gold, silver and bronze bands to reflect the firms and individuals who are considered to have an edge over their competitors in terms of reputation.
