Alethea M. Huyser has joined Fredrikson & Byron as an Associate in the Litigation, White Collar & Regulatory Defense and Energy Groups. Huyser is an experienced litigator who represents clients in a wide variety of enforcement, regulatory and civil litigation matters.
As an experienced former Assistant Solicitor General, Huyser is uniquely able to advocate for clients interacting with the government. From initial contact through appellate practice, she assists clients facing civil and health care fraud claims, government enforcement actions, licensing investigations and white collar defense.
Huyser also advises utilities, independent power producers and transmission companies on siting, routing, permitting and other regulatory matters in Minnesota and around the region.
Prior to joining Fredrikson, Huyser served as the sole Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Minnesota. In that role, she represented state officials on myriad regulatory, administrative and civil issues. She specialized in complex constitutional and civil litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels. Alethea worked on significant matters for the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, Department of Human Services, Department of Public Safety, Department of Commerce, Department of Corrections, Pollution Control Agency, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Revenue and Governor’s Office, among others.
Alethea has successfully acted as lead attorney on significant cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the Minnesota Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and district courts.
