Brody was recognized for his service on the board of Northern Star Scouting for which he most recently served as the chair of its CEO Succession Task Force, and Splett for his service on the board of Neighborhood Development Center. Brody and Splett were each selected for their exceptional leadership, commitment to advancing their nonprofits’ missions and for their contributions beyond governance that have empowered the communities in which they serve.
Brody focuses his practice on sophisticated wealth transfer issues for individuals, families and family offices. His specific areas of expertise include estate and tax planning for individuals, including the preparation of wills, trusts and related documents, charitable gift planning and administration, estate and trust administration and related controversies and tax controversies. He has been recognized nationally for his work in trusts and estates and nonprofit law, and he has served previously in nonprofit leadership roles with organizations including The Minneapolis Foundation and the Minnesota Zoo Foundation.
Known for his practical guidance and strong client relationships, Splett helps private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, strategic buyers and entrepreneurial sellers structure and execute mergers and acquisition transactions with a practical, tax-informed approach. Splett has advised clients on more than 250 transactional matters, with a focus on private equity–driven M&A, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations, and cross-border transactions. Through a combination of timely business guidance and stellar client service, he takes pride in the relationships and trust he builds with his clients. Splett is also a dedicated pro bono advocate, serving on the boards of Neighborhood Development Center and the Association for Corporate Growth Minnesota, and volunteering with organizations supporting asylum seekers, veterans and children in foster care.
