We are pleased to introduce you to "Our Champions," a series revealing the people and stories behind Fredrikson’s support of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Each edition spotlights a team member or group making an impact—showcasing their reasons for serving our community and applauding their efforts in Special Olympics’ Inclusion Revolution.
Meet Susan Trombley, a senior research librarian at Fredrikson.
Susan may have been one of the earliest firm personnel to raise her hand to volunteer at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Over the years, Susan has watched friends participate in Special Olympics events and has seen how meaningful the experience can be—not only for athletes, but for their families and friends as well. “Everyone deserves a space to belong and be celebrated,” she says. “Special Olympics provides that opportunity.” When she learned the firm was a platinum sponsor and coordinating volunteers to sign up for shifts together, it made her decision to sign up even easier.
Susan plans to take part in multiple shifts in the athlete dining hall, a role that keeps the focus on people, presence and practical support. She’s especially looking forward to connecting with athletes and their families during exciting and hard‑earned moments before and after competition. “Athletes and families have so much to be proud of,” she said.
Her goal is simple but intentional; take care of the logistics, so others can stay present. By helping behind the scenes, Susan hopes to create space for athletes and families and friends to enjoy the positive moments without distractions. As she puts it, “people do not always remember what we do, but they remember how we make them feel.” And sometimes, she added, all it takes is a kind word or a smile to make a giant difference in someone’s day.
