According to latest trending data, per technopedia.com (Jan. 29, 2024), the U.S. is the nation most aggressively funding AI technology, with $249 billion dedicated in private funding. China and the UK are ranked second and third, respectively. Interestingly, however, China tops the U.S. in AI-related patent filings, per Bloomberg (Oct. 24, 2023). According to Bloomberg’s report, the top patent filers in China have been Baidu, which is the most popular internet search engine in China, and Alibaba, which specializes in e-commerce, retail, and internet-based technologies. Conversely, in the U.S., Axios (Feb. 5, 2024) recently reported that IBM ranks first in AI filings, with Google, Microsoft, Samsung and Intel rounding out the top five.
