Overview

Nick serves Fredrikson as the firm’s Conflicts Counsel. He assists the firm in the prevention, identification and resolution of conflicts of interests. 

Nick is an experienced ethics lawyer with a background in advising lawyers on compliance with the rules of professional conduct.

Nick’s prior experience includes advising lawyers and law firms on all matters of legal ethics and law firm practice, including proper client communication, resolution of conflicts, trust account recordkeeping and management, appropriate client engagement letters, and, if necessary, how to correctly withdraw from representation. During his final two years of law school Nick served as a law clerk at the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility (OLPR) where he conducted legal research on legal ethics issues and assisted attorneys in the investigations of allegations of professional misconduct.   

Experience

  • Defended lawyers against ethics complaints alleging violations of the rules of professional conduct.
  • Advised lawyers and law firms on law firm processes and procedures to ensure compliance with attorney ethics rules.
  • Represented law students before the Minnesota Board of Law Examiners, including at character and fitness hearings.
  • Presented numerous continuing legal education (CLE) courses on legal ethics.
