Overview
Bob is a trusted advisor to global companies on complex international transactions, including advising on several of the largest M&A deals in North America.
Bob has helped clients on their most sensitive and strategic projects across the Americas, Asia, and Europe, assisting multinational companies and private equity firms in successfully growing their business operations abroad and in completing key acquisitions of a global nature. Bob practiced law for more than seven years in Asia and has counseled clients across a broad range of industry sectors, including life sciences and health care, agribusiness, energy, consumer products, retail and logistics. He has advised North American and European clients on their strategic M&A and joint ventures in the US and abroad, market entry and exit strategies, corporate governance, anti-monopoly and national security review, labor and collective bargaining laws, customs compliance and risk management. He has extensive experience counseling clients on anti-corruption and related compliance issues, conducting internal investigations and helping to design and implement effective compliance programs.
Bob has a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and a B.A. from Holy Cross College. He speaks Mandarin and is a member of both the American and International Bar Associations. Bob is Co-Chair of the Minnesota China Business Council, Board Member and Governance Committee Chair of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and is a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations/Minnesota.Bob is a trusted advisor to global companies on complex international transactions, including advising on several of the largest M&A deals in North America.

Anti-Corruption/CFIUS/Exon-Florio/Corporate Compliance
- Extensive experience advising U.S. and foreign companies on transactional, regulatory matters related to cross-border investment in the U.S., including all aspects of the U.S. national security review process of foreign investments, as administered by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (“CFIUS”).
- More than 15 years of experience advising companies on anti-corruption and related compliance issues, conducting internal investigations and helping to design and implement effective compliance programs in a range of industries including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, energy, manufacturing and mining.
- Counseled U.S. and European clients on China’s Anti-Monopoly Law, customs disputes, Chinese labor and employment issues, including in the areas of collective bargaining, layoffs and equity incentive compensation.
