The Bankruptcy, Reorganization & Workouts group regularly represents creditors, debtors and buyers of assets in court proceedings across the country ranging from

Team members also have experience representing debtors and creditors in foreign insolvency proceedings, including in Canada and Mexico.

Professional Leadership

The Fredrikson restructuring team is actively involved in leading restructuring organizations. One of our members chaired and two others were members of the committee that drafted the Minnesota statutes governing receiverships and assignments for the benefit of creditors, which has been utilized as a model by other groups across the U.S. Our attorneys are active as members of and/or leaders in a number of professional insolvency organizations, including the American College of Bankruptcy, Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law, the Turnaround Management Association (Upper Midwest Chapter), the Hennepin County Bar Association Debtor/Creditor Section, and the Minnesota State Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section.   • Key outcome: Christ’s Household of Faith community was threatened by foreclosure, including 30 homes, commercial property, farm and businesses. A bankruptcy case was filed to stay the foreclosure. The case involved a company which sold and installed asbestos insulation products and faced massive liability from product liability claims. The company was able to confirm a Chapter 11 plan involving a contribution to a trust and assignment of its remaining insurance and go forward as a successful business after reorganization.
